Trésor FIRST LETTER

Sasha is a little coton living in Connecticut.

In his letter, he describe his human family and his new doggie friends. He explain us very well "how useful is a little Coton"

Bonjour,

Oh Sara, where do I begin my story. I am very sorry that I did not write it down sooner, but I had to learn to speak English. My humans love me very much, but they speak almost no French. I couldn't believe it myself at first but it's true. I didn't realize how hard it would be, but no matter how I tried they just couldn't learn French, so as any Coton would do, I learned English. Please don't worry, I won't forget my French, so when I see you this summer you can speak to me in my native Quebecois.

I really think I am a lucky boy. First I have two moms; Cathy and Katherine, and a pop, Jim. When we left on our long journey to Connecticut, they held me all the way home. It was many hours in the car, with hugs and kisses and happy dreams of the house and the lake and my brothers and sisters and Sunny, and before I knew it we were here.

sashaAt first I didn't know what to think, every thing was different. There were also lots of new dogs here when I arrived. There are two Bichons named Taffy and Buster. Taffy is very old and she is nice to me but I'm not allowed to play rough with her. Buster is a big guy and he plays with me a lot. He gets grouchy if I try to eat his food. Bernstein is a Labrador and for the first few days I thought he was a big yellow giant, but now he's my friend and protector. He has even taught me how to fetch. His favorite thing is to chase the Frisbee spaceships and shake out all the aliens and bring it back empty. No matter how many times Jim flies it for him he always brings it back.

Best of all, is Gabbie. She is a Coton too! She is very pretty, don't you think? gabyI asked Cathy and Katherine to send a picture of us together. She runs like the wind and plays with me a lot. She is very much like a princess except the other day she got up on the table and ate the frosting off the cake. Did she get a lecture for that. She said she heard from my cousin Tresor that chocolate is good for her pigment and that all the Cotons use it. Anyway it's great to have Gabbie here because the Bichons like to lay around all day sleeping and Bernstein is kind of too big for me to play with, so Gabbie is just right. stick

I can make her chase me anytime. The easiest way is to kill a nice stick, and pretend I like it, If she thinks I like it then she tries to take it away from me. But first I make her chase me around. My yard is very nice. It is very big with lots of room to run, and it has fences all around so nothing else can get in except for the dumb squirrels. Gabbie and I always chase them away. These humans are so silly though. They have a small lake in the yard, with a fence around it and a ladder to go down into it. And in the winter they stretch a big cover over it. Its not big like Lac Nomininque Sara, and they don't skate on it or anything. I think it is named 'lake swimming pool'.

Everybody here works very hard, so I try to help as much as I can. If Katherine is working in the garden I help her dig the manure. If Jim is painting in the house I carry the sand paper around. I even tried to clean the ashes out of the fire place the other day. So I have been a gardener, a painter and a chimney sweep. But even with all the work and play I still have to go to school. I got an 'A' in puppy kindergarten, and I am doing good in obedience class. I do the best "come" in the whole class. That's because I love my treats. Then I have another class for show handling. Sara, I thought at first that my humans would be hard to train, but they are doing much better now. And the teacher for my show class says I have great attitude. I tell her "but of course, I am a Coton".

So Sara you must not worry for me. My humans are taking good care of me, and I am working hard at training them. I help with everything I can. I am even good when I get poked by all the doctors, and when I get brushed and combed, or when I have to put on my leash.

So I will not say good bye, only à BIENTÔT.

With love and "beaux becs"

Sasha
